Reading Pokémon’s Unknown Alphabet

Reading Pokémon’s Unknown Alphabet:

In the Pokémon franchise, Unown is an intriguing Pokémon. If they play a game, they may be captured.

Although you only need to meet 1 Unown for the PokéDex entry, there are now over 26 distinct Unown. Having the alphabet in your Pokémon Boxes requires catching every Unown.

Unown was one of several Pokemon placed on the shelf in Pokemon the Sword and the Shield. As Unown’s main ability is Hidden Power, which was deleted from the game, this seemed more appropriate for Unown than most other shelved Pokemon. Unown used Hidden Power in Pokemon BDSP.

Among Pokémon ruins and old locations, these strange sentient symbols, which replicate the English alphabet plus a question mark & exclamation point, are often encountered. Due to their semi-mythical position and unknown abilities, the Unown remain a mystery.

What Language Is Unknown?

28 characters comprise Unicode. Two of them are exclamation marks and question marks, while the rest are Latin alphabet letters.

In Pokémon games, you must complete certain procedures to discover Unown. In Pokémon Legends: Arceus, you had to discover hidden Unown by finding unique clues about their whereabouts.

Unown was only found in Solaceon Ruins in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl. Tracing each one required some trial and error, yet it was achievable.

Is Unown Strong?

Unown is weak. Unown has poor stats like Squirtle and Bulbasaur. Moreover, it exclusively learns Hidden Power. Hidden Power has historically been beneficial, but its low power & lack of coverage make Unown weak offensively and defensively.

Is Locating All Hidden Unown Rewarded?

Both. Finding every Unown gives you a flawless Pokédex entry, but that’s all. There’s no additional item for finishing your Pokédex, but it unlocks a lot of stuff.

Discover Every Hidden Unown:

These are the locations of all 28 hidden Unown in alphabetical sequence, starting with Unown A, then B, C, and so on, ending with Unown.
