Perhaps first major leak that confirms some features of Samsung Galaxy S9!
Samsung may be working on Galaxy Note 8 launch due for next month, but that isn’t stopping the leaks regarding its others devices. In two separate but closely related benchmark leaks that just came from Geekbench we get to see what may be company’s first flagship product for next year, aka Samsung Galaxy S9.
While the devices appearing in these leaks nowhere quote Galaxy S9 name, the model numbers and other details seem to be hinting towards that. Let’s see the leaks to understand why is it so.
The first leak came yesterday, which showed an unknown Samsung device with model number SM-G9600 and Android 7.1.2 Nougat OS. Now, this latest version of Android says a lot about how far this device is in launch schedule, because 7.1.2 Nougat hasn’t hit any major device as of now except for Pixel and Nexus smartphones.
Besides that, the smartphone has 4GB of RAM and 1.8 GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon Processor. Now, being Quad-Core it’s not the latest Snapdragon 835 (which is octa-core), so what else it may be? Snapdragon 840? Perhaps. Because the motherboard says sdm840!
All this information and the mid-range performance score seemed to hint towards a “Mini” version of Galaxy S8… but then came the next benchmark leak with model number SM-G9650, whose details were pretty much the same, except for one small difference:
You see that? A possible snapdragon 845 SoC plus Android 7.1.2 operating system. With both these things present, there’s a good possibility that we’re looking at Galaxy S9, which is rumored from quite some time to come with Snapdragon 845 processor.
In case you don’t know, Qualcomm’s yet to be announced Snapdragon 845 chipset will be based on latest 7nm processor technology and will be manufactured by TSMC instead of Samsung, because Samsung is still content with its 8nm manufacturing technique.
