Pre-orders for the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus hit 720,000 units for the first even days and made a record biting the dust. Since the company opened pre-orders for its upcoming flagship lineup the last Friday and surprisingly in approx. 728,000 customers opted to place an advanced order on the devices. The pre-order process will continue until Monday.
The industry experts expected that the number of the pre-orders could reach as high as one million units, topping the Note 7 2-5 times.Samsung chief Koh Dong-Jin said that he is looking to sell a million devices in South Korea itself before they officially hit the market on April 21.The Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus already broke Samsung’s domestic pre-order record over the weekend and hence outperformed the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge.
The new Galaxy S8 specific features that catch the attention, this is because the smartphone will ship with Google Assistant, which is the part of the Android operating system and have some of the similar features as Bixby. With this Samsung is taking a direct shot at growing popularity of all AI assistants just like Alexa, Siri and Google Assistant.
The special variant of this device is currently only planned for a release in South Korea and China, but its availability will be expanded to other markets later this year, depending on the demands of the customers.
The giant tech Samsung’s chief assured that the Samsung Galaxy S8 will be the first device to regain customers’ trust and love and will beat all their expectations. Its pre-order hitting 72,000 units proved that the market response is far better than expected.Koh Dong-Jin also revealed that he is also looking to recover its market position in China.
The price for the Samsung Galaxy S8 starts from $750, while it is a hundred bucks more expensive for Samsung Galaxy S8 plus.
