Huawei Honor 9 is a smartphone whose release date has been a topic of speculation from quite sometime. Firs of all there was news that it may be released on June 20 or 21. Then we heard that it may come on June 27 & now finally when official Honor 9 release date has come out, it has turned out to be much before than both these guesses.
That’s right – Huawei has sent out press invites for an event in Shanghai on 12th of June where it’ll reveal the much anticipated Honor 9 smartphone.
The invite features Chinese actor and singer Hu Ge, which may be a sign that the device will have a spectacular camera. Besides that, the invite, published in Chinese, roughly translates to “Beautiful and Colorful” along with the number 9 printed prominently, which may be an indication towards this device coming in multiple colors.
In case you don’t know, Honor 9 is expected to come in at least 3 different color options: Black, Blue and Light Purple.
As far as specs of this smartphone are concerned, nothing is confirmed as of now. However, the information collected by rumor mill suggests that it’ll come with a Kirin 960 Chipset, 5.15-inch full HD touchscreen, 20MP rear-facing camera and 12MP front-facing shooter. Honor 9 is also expected to replace the 3.5 mm audio jack with a USB-C port & rumors also suggest that this time the fingerprint sensor may be brought forward and placed in the home button.
If this happens, it’ll be interesting to see how Apple will respond to such a move. However, all these details should be taken with a grain of salt right now. They may be as off the mark as Honor 9 release date.
The euphoria for this device is quite understandable as it’s successor to already successful Honor 8 smartphone, which was released last year. The device was such a massive hit that Huawei sold 1.5 million units of it within 2 months.
Now with its successor Honor 9 in the pipeline, the company would like to repeat the history in a bigger way. Therefore, it’ll be interesting to see how this device fairs in the market after its launch.
