No Mi 6 Plus for now – it’s Mi Note 2 Special Edition instead!

We were off the marks! When Xiaomi yesterday teased the launch of a new smartphone with 6GB RAM and 3D Glass Body, we thought it’ll be Mi 6 Plus. However, the company had something else in store. Instead of that flagship product it has instead launched a new version of its Mi Note 2 smartphone, putting all Mi 6 Plus rumors and news to the rest (at least for now).

In case you don’t know, Mi Note 2 was launched by the company last year with dual-edged curved glass on both front and back. That stunningly designed device was launched in 3 different variants:

  • A 4GB RAM variant with 64GB of internal storage
  • A 6GB RAM variant with 128GB of internal storage
  • And finally another 6GB RAM 128GB storage global variant. This version of device had support for global LTE bands.

Now company has launched a 4th variant of same device with 6GB RAM and 64GB of internal memory, thus completing the lineup. This new model will be great for those buyers who want more RAM but don’t want 128GB of internal storage and would instead prefer a deduction in pricing by compromising on storage capacity.

However, there’s a catch with this device. This special edition of Galaxy Note 2 is China exclusive, which means it won’t be available in other countries. They may change their mind later, but for now it’s as it is. Moreover, even in China this new device will be available in only Black color. The price of device has been set at CNY 2,899.

In case you don’t know, Mi Note 2 comes with a 5.7-inch full HD display, 2.35 GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 821 processor and fingerprint sensor located on its back. The RAM and internal storage configurations are as per information given above. It comes with a 22.56mp primary camera and 8mp secondary camera, both of which have been made by Sony. The primary camera is capable of recording 4K videos with stabilization technology.

The company is proudly touting its 6,000 mbps LTE speed on downlink with 3x carrier aggregation. It also supports Mi Pay, NFC, Bluetooth 4.2 and comes with Type-C USB port. An acoustic audio processor is also loaded in device that pumps out 192kHz/24-bit Hi-Fi quality sound. And to power all this impressive hardware there’s a mammoth 4,070 mAh battery in the device. In a nutshell, a flagship that can make anyone’s jaws drop.
