Samsung Galaxy A6 and Galaxy A6 Plus leaks and Rumours

Earlier this week we came to know about the newer addition to the mid-range line up of
Samsung in 2018. Samsung’s A series phone which debuted in 2015 in a metal body has
seen 3 iterations so far. Newest of the line-up, Samsung Galaxy A6 and A6 Plus frequent the rumor mill for a while now.

Galaxy A6 and A6 Plus were spotted in FCC registration site where all smartphones that are
sold on the US needs to be registered. Though not much of the specs were released the
GeekBench scores helped with some specs. A Samsung support site gave some more detail
about the display and pictures on 5th April.

Specs from the Rumors and leaks

A6 and A6 plus seems to take design cues from the elder sibling Samsung Galaxy A8 and A8 plus which launched earlier this year in India. Though no image has surfaced as of now the design is expected to be glass sandwich design held by a metal rim on all the sides.
The A6 is said to have the same display as the A8, an 18.5:9 display measuring 5.6 inches
diagonally boasting a resolution of 1080 * 2220 which provides a pixel density of 441 pixels
per inch. The fullHD+ resolution display is on a super AMOLED infinity display. Though the
screen doesn’t curve the edges, the glass over it curves. The larger of the duo is
rumored of having every display feature in common except stretching the screen to 6
inches diagonally resulting in a bigger display and a lesser PPI.

The lower variant of the duo, A6 runs on a homegrown chip Exynos 7870 SoC which has an 8 core cortex a53 CPU and Mali T-830 MP1 GPU. The CPU option on the A6 doesn’t seem that promising after seeing the chip in a lower midrange segment in Galaxy J series and A3

The A6 plus show two different rumors, neither of which is official. They are said to run by
a Qualcomm Snapdragon’s 625 which is 2-year- old mid-tier SoC or a Snapdragon 450 which is new generation entry-level Soc. SoC is not likely to get a change over from Snapdragon 625 hence the phone is about to release and expected to be in the final stages of testing.

What to expect from the newest sibling in A series?

The phone is expected to run Android Oreo 8.1 or 8.0 out of the box, covered with Samsung’s Experience UI 9.0 adding the tweaks and features of Samsung’s custom skin.
No word is let out on the cameras, with speculations and Samsung’s track records a single
camera is what we can expect out of mid-range phone from Samsung. The usage of the
taller display means there is no physical home key and the fingerprint scanner should be
placed on the back right below the camera module. There is no word on wireless charging
and IP ratings.

Price is expected to be lesser than the A8 duo, with a compelling reason for taking the
design from the A8 and packing much lower specs resulting in a cheaper price range. The
expected price is around 25,000 INR.
