[MAJ] Octopath Traveler II announces itself in trailer and arrives faster than you think

Small welcome surprise during the Nintendo Direct, Big N revealed in a trailer the sequel to Octopath Traveler. Better still, the soberly named Octopath Traveler II arrives in just five short months.

Once is not custom, this second opus obviously keeps the HD-2D pixel style which made the reputation of its predecessor. The game, described as “entirely new to the Octopath Traveler series”, will also leave embody 8 characters — and in fact, will come to tell 8 unique stories.

We can also see in the trailer the presence of a day/night cycle, which should undoubtedly have its importance during the stories, or even in the gameplay itself. Besides, we will have to wait a little longer to get more details.

Octopath Traveler is thus expected to on February 24, 2023, on Nintendo Switch. The title should also arrive on PS4, PS5, and PC, although the date is yet to be confirmed for these platforms.

While we might have expected a temporary exclusive on Switch like the first opus, Square Enix confirms for its part that Octopath Traveler II is indeed available simultaneously on pc, PlayStation 4 et PlayStation 5 from the day of release.

Beyond that, the publisher didn’t provide a lot of additional details on the title, except that Octopath Traveler still sold for more than 3 million copies. We fully understand that a sequel with 8 new characters with unique destinies can be particularly expected.
