In Hogwarts Legacy, Should You Assist Ackley Barnes?
After completing the main quest ‘The Helm of Urtkot’ in Hogwarts Legacy and reaching level 15, you’ll be able to access the side quest ‘Venomous Revenge,’ which is delivered by Ackley Barnes in Hogsmeade.
The ‘Venomous Revenge’ side quest differs from what you’re accustomed to in Hogwarts Legacy. When you approach Ackley Barnes, he will not give you anything in return, which may make you worry if finishing this side mission is worthwhile. And, in the end, you’ll have to make a choice that will directly effect how much money you’ll receive by assisting him.

This adventure is far from safe, as you’ll need to utilise Disillusionment to evade detection and sneak through multiple nasty Thornback Scurriours. The Alohomora Spell is also needed to open a door that leads to the Venomous Tentacula.
Alternatively, you may choose “I’m not comfortable with this,” in which case Ackley Barnes will try to convince you to continue carrying out the terrible act in Hogwarts Legacy. “Very good,” will be the next two alternatives. “I’ll do it,” and “I’ll find an other method.” Choosing the first option will continue the quest, assigning you the duty of infiltrating Alfred’s basement. Choosing the second conversation choice in Hogwarts Legacy, on the other hand, will enable you to “assist” Ackley in a different manner. Instead of taking Alfred’s Venomous Tentacula, you may grow one yourself or purchase one from Dogweed & Deathcap in Hogsmeade.
Giving a Venomous Tentacula to Ackley Barnes in Hogwarts Legacy will provide you with two options.
“Happy to get rid of it”: You’ll hand over the Venomous Tentacula to Ackley Barnes without demanding payment. He’ll reimburse your character with 300 Galleons for your “next trip to Zonko’s” in exchange.
“I’d want to be paid”: Before turning up the Venomous Tentacula you stole, you’ll ask Ackley Barnes for money. He’ll tell you it’s “only fair” and offer you 500 galleons in exchange for your effort.
None of the alternatives will provide you a lot of Galleons, but if you want to assist Ackley Barnes finish every side mission in Hogwarts Legacy, it’s worth it. To earn additional money, choose the option “I’d want to be compensated” before giving over the Venomous Tentacula to him.
Regardless of your option, completing the ‘Venomous Revenge’ quest in Hogwarts Legacy will always provide your character 180 XP.
In Ackley Barnes’ Side Question Venomous Revenge in Hogwarts Legacy?
This side mission requires you to steal a Venomous Tentacula from Alfred Lawley. You must stay hidden while taking the plant or you will fail the mission because Alfred Lawley would catch you in the act.
In order to finish the ‘Venomous Revenge’ side mission, you must consume an Invisibility potion or perform the Disillusionment enchantment to take the plant without Alfred Lawley noticing.
How To Complete ‘Venomous Revenge’:
The ‘Venomous Revenge’ quest is rather simple. You’ll be sent to a place named ‘Lawley’s Cellar’ after agreeing to assist Ackely Barnes. This is a different load zone in Hogsmeade, and it’s right around the corner from Zonkos.
The basement is relatively tiny, with one stealth area and one battle portion. You’ll have to sneak around Lawley, who is now monitoring the area, at first. Cast Disillusionment, then sneak behind him when he turns his back. Before proceeding to the fight area, you will be able to crawl beneath a tiny hole in the wall.
When you open the door, keep an eye out for Thornback Spiders scurrying about the area. There are two approaches to the matter. Play quietly to avoid the Thornbacks, or engage in combat to defeat them.
After you pass the Thornback Spiders, you would come upon a large pot containing the Venomous Tentacula. Return to Barnes with the plant to finish the objective. Lawley may still be around, so use the Disillusionment spell to evade detection before exiting the basement.
The Quickest Way To Finish ‘Venomous Revenge’:
Buy a Venomous Tentacular:
There is a way to aid Ackley without robbing anybody during the Venomous Revenge quest. A Venomous Tentacular may be purchased at Dogwee & Deathcap, a herbology shop on the outskirts of Hogsmeade. If you buy a Tentacular & give it back to Ackley, he’ll be none the wiser.
