Ys IX: Monstrum Nox: How long to finish the game.
Ys IX: Monstrum Nox is the Action-RPG of the month for February, along with Persona 5 Strikers. These are the last adventures of Adol Christin after Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana, which means a new world to explore, new characters, and new quests.
It differs from its predecessors with an exploration mechanically enriched with the powers of Monstrum. In addition to the open areas and the usual dungeons, the title lets you roam an entire city. If you’re hesitating between the two JRPGs or just curious, here’s Falcom’s Game Lifetime.
What is the lifespan of Ys IX: Monstrum Nox?
Once out of prison, Adol can explore the city or at least part of it. Regularly, you will be blocked by barriers that you will have to destroy while fighting in the Night of Grimwald.
Thus, the zones will be unlocked as you progress in the scenario. Besides, how long does it take to complete the story? According to our own playing time, here is how the lifespan is divided:
The main story will take around 30 to 35 hours; the secondary objective will take around 20 to 25 hours, and to complete the whole game, it will take around 60 hours or maybe more.
Since the title leaves you good freedom of action in the middle of the game with many areas to explore or re-explore, the estimates may vary depending on your playstyle.
Note that the side quests are unlocked as you go and can, therefore, “fail” if you do not do them before advancing into a new chapter or key period of the scenario. They are recognizable by the indication “(short)” in your logbook.
In addition to quests, the city is full of collectibles and objectives of all kinds and nothing insurmountable given that they are easily found, especially with one of the powers of Monstrum.
Thus, it will be necessary to collect blue petals, inscriptions, chests, panoramas and defeat optional bosses. As for Ys VIII, it will take a long time to farm if you want to obtain all the achievements.
Ys IX: Monstrum Nox is available from February 5, 2021, on PS4. It will arrive this summer on Switch and PC. To find out more, we invite you to consult our complete test. Stay tuned for the next update.
