Change is the only constant in the world. And when it comes to smartphone industry, this saying is truer than true. Because those who do not change quickly in this cut-throat market face the fate of BlackBerry and Nokia. Sony has also been one of those smartphone makers which have shown the reluctance to change, but it seems that this premium brand is gonna rectify this thing before it’s too late.
That’s right – the company, which has followed its own OmniBalance design philosophy for its smartphones till date without nudging a bit from it, is now looking all set for a revamp. If latest renders are any closer to the reality then in 2018 Sony’s Xperia smartphones are gonna look completely different from anything launched by it till date. Shedding the bezels, they may emerge as true bezel-less smartphone offerings from the company. That’s what latest leaked renders, which you can see above, seem to suggest.
As you can see in the images given above, there’re two different Xperia smartphones, both with bezel-less displays. One of them may be the flagship Xperia XZ Premium, while other may be a non-flagship mid-range offering. According to Georgian website Vortex.ze, the device with less rounded corners and shiny back is likely to be the flagship offering of the company, with dual front-facing speakers, dual lens primary camera, a 4K HD display, Snapdragon 845 processor, 6GB RAM and 128GB storage space. And since no fingerprint sensor is showing up on either side of this device, it’s rumored that the sensor may be embedded in the display. If that happens, it can be a major breakthrough for Sony, which will make it the first smartphone maker to offer a smartphone with working in-display fingerprint sensor.
The other non-flagship smartphone, on the other hand, is also supposed to come with dual front facing speakers, dual-rear camera but its fingerprint sensor will be on the back. The back of this smartphone will not be a shiny one, as can be seen in the images given above. Other features of the device are not known as of now.
It’s rumored that these renders are based on company’s own internal design drafts. Nothing is confirmed as of now because either of these smartphones is still in the early stage of design. We’ll share more details about these devices as they come out.
