Samsung accidentally confirms Galaxy S8 Active on official website, Reveals model number & OS

It was nearly confirmed, but now it’s official. Samsung Galaxy S8 Active is already under development, and it’ll be released soon. While its existence had become clear when we saw its benchmark results 9 days ago, this time it has been mentioned on official website of Samsung. With this now it seems that the rugged version of this year’s Galaxy S is not too distant from launch.

The device recently got listed on official Samsung Knox website in an article, and the listing reveals name, model number G892A, Android Nougat OS and the apps that’ll come pre-installed on device. While that moniker has been taken off from the article by now, press community was quick to capture screenshots so we can certainly check out what was mentioned there. Given below is a screenshot of entry mentioning model number:

Last month an image of device had also leaked reportedly showing the front of Galaxy S8 Active. If design shown in the image is going to be finalized then S8 Active will look more like LG G6 than a Galaxy S8, because it won’t have that edge to edge display. However, if a solid, rugged device has to be delivered than this is a compromise that must be done. This will be a tough to damage phone for adventurers – not average users.

But that doesn’t mean that it’ll have a smaller display than its flagship counterpart. It’s rumored that Samsung will keep the display size of device inline with that of S8 at 5.8-inches. Other rumored details are Snapdragon 835 SoC, 4GB RAM and a more generous 4,000 mAh battery. We’ll let you know about more details as they come out.
