Integral Memory Launches Highest Capacity 512GB Memory Card in UK

What’s the highest capacity SD card that you’ve used? 64GB? 128GB? Or at most I guess 256GB. RIght? Now how about having a memory card that’s 512GB? Sounds weird, doesn’t it? After all, the highest capacity cards available in the market end at 400GB. But that won’t be the case anymore, as Integral Memory of UK has come out with an SD card that’s double of this storage capacity. The records of highest capacity memory cards have officially been broken.

Yep – it’s half a terabyte of storage capacity in the size of your fingernail. It’s a Video Speed Class 10 (V10) memory card, and as this suggests, it’s made specially for high speed transfer, recording and playback of HD, Full HD, or even 4K videos. But that doesn’t mean you can’t save other files on it – you certainly can. After all, it’s a memory card. It just means that the card has specially been optimized for smooth performance during these particular tasks.

The card can work on almost all digital cameras, smartphones, tablets, drones and other devices that support microSDXC. That means it will work on a majority of Android phones, tablets and PCs like Surface Pro. And while its transfer speeds of up to 80mbps are not the highest, they’re still high enough for recording and playback of 4K video, so you won’t face any issues.

Speaking about this card company’s Marketing Manager James Danton said:

“Consumers have been clear in their call for increased storage, as mobile devices have become essential to many in everyday life. The need to provide extended memory for smartphones, tablets and a growing range of other mobile devices such as action cams and drones has been answered. As a company, we are very proud to be the first to achieve the 512GB capacity milestone in microSDXC, worldwide.”

The card will be available for purchase in February, and it’s not clear whether it will be available outside UK or not. We also don’t know how much it will cost, but it’s clear that it won’t be cheap because even a 400GB card costs around $250. This is 112GB more, so that certainly means a price tag higher than $300. As you can imagine, it’s more for bragging rights as of now than for practical usage in day-to-day life, because a card of this much capacity means as much storage on your smartphone/tablet as it comes on a large number of laptops. Still, if you want it, you’ll have to wait till Feb.
