Okay, so it just happened. It was 12th of June, and as expected, Huawei Honor 9 was launched in Shanghai. And guess what? Rumor mill got all the specs right. The biggest highlight of this device is its dual-camera setup on the back, but it also scores some pretty impressive numbers in design department. Specs-wise it’s very similar to company’s another handset called P10, but in terms of design it’s significantly ahead of that thing as well. Let’s take a look at its various features one by one.
Design
It sports an all-glass design with 2.5D curved glass display. The phone will come in four different color options, and its back changes color as it reflects the light. The color choices you get include Black, Blue, Gray and Amber Gold.
Camera
Dual-camera setups are becoming very popular these days, so how could Huawei stay behind the race? Honor 9 has got impressive 20MP + 12MP sensors on its back. The 20MP shooter is monochrome, while 12MP one is RGB. This impressive combination of sensors has been provided power with features like Laser autofocus, 2x optical zoom, f/2.2 aperture, portrait and bokeh capture modes, Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF) and dual-LED flash. In a nutshell, pretty much everything that you may need for capturing stunning photos with its primary camera. It has also got an 8MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture.
Display
The gorgeous 5.15-inch FHD display (1,920 x 1,080 pixels) of this device is pretty wide for almost everything that you may want to do on it. Whether it’s entertainment, video calling or editing a document – everything looks crisp and clear and you get enough space to perform the task.
Performance
No Qualcomm. Huawei has loaded Honor 9 with its own HiSilicon Kirin 960 chipset, which is an octa-core SoC with four cores clocked at 2.4GHz and other four cores clocked at 1.8GHz – nearly similar to Snapdragon 835 in that regard. This SoC has been combined with generous RAM choices of 4GB and 6GB to provide a super smooth smartphone experience.
Storage
Finally, the phone will come in three different versions, and each version has got different storage capabilities. The 4GB RAM version has got 64GB of internal storage. Next in line is the 6GB RAM version, which you can get either with 64GB or 128GB of storage.
Connectivity
Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, NFC, GPS, A-GPS, 4G with VoLTE support and USB Type-C port – Honor 9 has got nearly every modern connectivity feature that comes with any smartphone.
