How To Finish A Portrait When You’re In A Pickle:
Portrait in a Pickle is a side quest you can get from Ferdinand. It is about a painting in the Hogwarts library. You can start this quest after you have finished the third trial.
If you go to the library, you’ll find Ferdinand by the Floo Flame fast travel point. Talk to him, and he’ll tell you how upset he is that his other frame has been taken.
Go to the 3 Broomsticks in Hogsmeade after the conversation. Talk to Astoria Crickett, who will be near the building’s entrance. She would tell you that she paid some people to steal Ferdinand’s body and hide it in some ruins. She is talking about the Marunweem Ruins. They are in the bottom half of the map, far to the south.
When you get to the Marunweem Ruins, look for a staircase that goes down into the ground on the northern edge. Follow the stairs down into the dungeon below the ruins. If you have to, kill any enemies you find along the way.
When you get to the door in the dungeon, you’ll need level two Alohomora to open it. Talk to Ferdinand, who will be on the other side of the door in his painting. After talking with Ferdinand, you can take him to either the Hog’s Head or the Three Broomsticks. You are also able to set Ferdinand on fire and finish the quest right away.
If you decide to bring him back to Hogsmeade, you could put him in either place to finish the quest and get your reward.
