How Sons Of The Forest Ends:
There’s more to Sons of the Forest’s island than meets the eye, and the ending has caused a lot of people to scratch their heads and be confused in general. One minute you’re trying to explore a lava-filled cave and shaking a cross to protect yourself from mutants with spiked legs. The next, you’re looking at a futuristic city.
Once everything is up, you walk up to the helicopter while stroking your chin and trying to look less confused than everyone else. But the ending makes sense if you pay attention to all the various stories about the island. Almost.
Sons of the Forest just came out, but if you want to know more about what has happened in the game’s story so far without having to make an effort to remain alive on a dangerous island, we’ve got you covered. Sons of the Forest has a lot of different endings, and we’ll tell you how to get to them as you read on.
But before we talk about all the endings in Sons of the Forest, it’s best to remember that the game is still in early access. Like the last game, The Forest, the endings that are in the game right now may just be placeholders that will be changed when the full game comes out.
What The Cube Does:
This is the cube with gold walls that you step into at the very end. Every eight cycles, which aren’t fully explained, the island goes through something called a “dimensional slip,” which seems to turn everything outside of the cube into a mutant. A soldier as well as Kelvin are inside the cube.
The person who tried to get into the cube behind Kelvin was just a redshirt who was there to show players what would happen if they didn’t make it in time. The soldier who was holding the laptop found a timer for the dimensional slip.
The view of the futuristic city is of a different world that briefly slips into the world of the islands. The slip ends when the image goes away. So, when you consider leaving the cube, you have seen the strange mutant with the head of the redshirt hanging down.
Now that the island’s secret is known and there isn’t much reason to deal with dimensional slips in the future, the family who was briefly seen in a cutscene before decides to leave the island with the player and the survivors.
If you didn’t get the secret ending, you wouldn’t think that the people getting into the helicopter are the missing billionaire family.
How To Get To The End:
To get to the end of Sons of the Forest, you’ll need a few things. Here are those things. Rebreather Gun Shovel Keycard VIP Keycard Maintenance Keycard Rebreather
With the Maintenance Keycard, you are able to enter the rooms where the Cross as well as the Golden Armor are kept. It’s also here that you’ll view your first real story cutscene, when some allies join you for a short time as you try to defeat a huge mutant.
We need to get the Golden Armor, because if you wear it, you can reach the end of Sons of the Forest. You must take the Golden Armor to a Bunker on the East side of the map once you have it. On the map below, the spot where the Eastern Bunker is marked. In-game, you’ll have seen a green ping on your map when you get close.
When you get to the Bunker, go inside, down the stairs, and through the door on the left. Follow the hallways as well as kill any mutants you find along the way. Since you’ll be fighting a great deal of evil, we suggest you use powerful weapons like the Revolver or Katana.
At the end of the hallway, go back down the stairs and go through the yellow gates until you attain another hallway. Then go back to the left and keep going through the luxurious rooms. At some point, you’ll come to an open front door on the right that leads to a penthouse-style apartment that is, of course, deep underground.
Go through the door on the left side of the apartment and turn right until you access a bathroom that looks pretty bad. Where the sinks have been ripped out of the wall, smoke will be coming out. Go through the smoke to reach a door made of gold. Put on the Golden Armor completely, and then use the door to go deeper into the caves below.
Follow the ledge of rock along the flow of lava and keep going until you reach another tight tunnel. At the end, you could indeed jump over a gap before going deeper into the cave. At some point, you’ll reach a warmly lit room with more mutants. Get rid of them again before going up the ramp.
Crouch to keep going through the tunnel, and afterwards run until you reach the end, where you’ll discover the lava stream again. As soon as you walk into this room, you’ll find more mutants to fight. Kill them, and afterwards follow the thin path thru the lava. You might see more as you walk along this path, but if you run fast enough, you should be capable of passing them.
You’ll discover another tunnel close by, so run until you reach another pool of lava. Turn left there and go through another tunnel till the you reach the lava stream again. You already know what to do.
follow the lava deeper into the cave. You’ll enter a pretty big cavern here, but all you have to do is follow the lava until you reach another tunnel on the other side. You can squeeze through a hole at the end of this tunnel.
You’ll get into a Golden Cube after you squeeze through the gap. Inside, a soldier is holding a laptop, as well as Kelvin will soon run in. Then, the soldier would then look at you and show you a 15-second countdown on their laptop. Then, he or she will freak out and project other images of themselves for a short time. No big deal.
When the images go away, the side of the cube opens up and you can see a futuristic city in a different dimension. Yes, you are on a whole new planet! But after a short time, the Golden Cube would then close again, making it impossible for you to go to another dimension.
As the cube closes, it will open on the other side to reveal a big mutant writhing around before the screen goes black. When you get control back, you’ll be on a beach by a helicopter, and you can talk to the pilot to get off the island.
How To Get Good, Bad, And The Truth:
Good Ending:
If you decide to get on the helicopter with Timmy and Eric, you’ll be rescued from the island as well as the credits will start to roll. Even though you didn’t save a single Puff-ton, you are still healthy and secure now that you are back in civilization.
If Kelvin is still alive at this point, he would then come with you on the helicopter. If you choose this ending, you are also eligible for the Fought Demons achievement.
Bad Ending:
If you don’t want to join Timmy as well as Eric, you can pick up a survival bag near the helicopter if you don’t want to. If you decide to stay on the island, Timmy and Eric will leave without you if you decide to leave. If Kelvin is still alive at this point, he also will stay on the island with you.
Why, you might ask? Who can say? When the full game comes out, maybe something else will be added to make this choice make sense, or this ending might just be thrown out. The Real End:
Sons of the Forest has a true ending that you can only get by making friends with Virginia, a mutant with three arms and three legs who is also one of the Puff-tons you were sent to save. If you make friends with her before going into the Cube, she will come along when you enter the Cube before it shuts down.
As the cycle goes on, Virginia hopes that she will go back to normal, but when she finds out that her extra parts are still there, she passes out in your arms. Then you go to the beach to find the rescue helicopter. You can still choose to ride the chopper or not.
If you decide to get rescued, Virginia will be on the helicopter with you. You’ll both get back to safety, and at least one of the three Puff-tons will be saved. Virginia will stay on the island with you if you decide to stay there.
There have been reports that, even though you can make Virginia your partner, she doesn’t show up in the cube, so the scene with her in the helicopter won’t happen.
