GTA V: 20 million copies sold in 2020 and a total of 140 million all time.
Where will GTA V end? Before its arrival on PS5 and Xbox Series this year, Rockstar Games’ title crossed the milestone of 140 million copies distributed worldwide as of December 31, 2020, or 20 million more than at the end of 2019.
Performance is all the more impressive knowing that GTA V was offered for free on the Epic Games Store in May 2020.
After a record launch in 2013 with 32.5 million copies sold on PS3 and Xbox 360, the game found a cruising speed of around 15 million sales per year before registering a slight decrease to 10 million in 2018.
Sales then took off again in 2019, marked by a record attendance for GTA Online thanks to the Diamond Casino & Hotel update launch.
Rebelote in 2020: Take-Two Interactive reports that GTA Online footfall has been higher than any other year, even before the Cayo Perico Heist launched in December.
GTA V is still expected on PS5 and Xbox Series in an improved version for the second half of 2021. Stay tuned for the next update.
