The device will come in two variants just like the current Redmi 4. There’ll be a Snapdragon 625 SoC variant, and a Snapdragon 630 variant, both in a number of different memory configurations.
Both these processors are mid-range processors of Qualcomm and way better than entry level Snapdragon 435 that comes loaded in Redmi 4. Besides these processors the smartphone will have a 5-inch Full-HD display, 16mp primary camera, 5mp secondary camera and 3,680 mAh battery.
Coming to the configuration, both variants of device will come in various different configurations, which are given below.
The Snapdragon 625 (Xiaomi Redmi 5) version will come in following configurations:
- Xiaomi Redmi 5 – 3GB RAM, 16GB storage (priced at 859 yuan or $125);
- Xiaomi Redmi 5 – 3GB RAM, 32GB storage (priced at 1039 yuan or $155).
And Snapdragon 630 (Xiaomi Redmi 5) version will be available in following configurations:

- Xiaomi Redmi 5 – 4GB RAM, 64GB storage (priced at 1,299 yuan or $190).
And just like its predecessor, there will be fingerprint sensor, 128GB of expandable memory and 4G VoLTE support in all these versions of Mi 5.
The device is expected to be launched in 3rd or 4th quarter, which means it may be released anytime by October. So if you want a great budget smartphone with flagship like features, you may want to wait till October. After all, you don’t often get a mid-range processor with Full-HD display in a budget phone. The device is certainly worth waiting for.
