WhatsApp for Apple Silicon Macs arrives in beta for all

WhatsApp is making available to everyone the beta of its application which natively supports Apple Silicon Macs, namely models with M1 and M2 chips. Until now, users had to go through the version designed for Macs with Intel processors, a version not optimized for them.

WhatsApp Application Mac Apple Silicon Interface

A beta of WhatsApp for Apple Silicon Macs had already seen the light of day last July, but it was only accessible via TestFlight. This is Apple’s system that allows developers to test their applications with the general public. The problem is that there is a limit, namely 10,000 people. And as you might expect with an application as popular as WhatsApp, the 10,000 places were claimed very quickly.

Now anyone can download the beta of the application from the WhatsApp site or directly from this address. You will see that the app icon is yellow and not green, which is normal. This is to clearly indicate that this is a test version. And who says test version says potential bugs or features that are not yet developed.

Note that WhatsApp on Mac is based on Apple’s Catalyst system. This allows in particular to “easily” port an iPad application to macOS. Here, the courier preferred to release the Mac version first. We can suspect that the iPad version will be soon, but there is not yet a precise release date, just like there is a precise release date for the stable version of the version optimized for Macs Apple Silicon.
