What Is The Atomic Heart’s “Thought Device”?
In an alternate history, where the story of Atomic Heart takes place, the Soviet Union has made a new technology called Polymer. This gave them the start they needed to become the most advanced civilization on Earth.
The Thought Device is one of the pieces of technology that the story is about. This article tells you about the Thought Device to assist you in follow what the main characters say and not lose track of what’s going on.
Atomic Heart draws a lot from Science Fiction and gives it a Soviet spin. The Thought devices are one of those things that are meant to help people evolve to the next level. But what exactly are they? Here’s everything we’ve learned about the device through playing the game.
What Is The Thought Device?
In Atomic Heart, the Thought Device is a brand-new piece of technology that changes everything. You put it on your temple, as well as its long tendrils wrap around your forehead.
The Thought Device lets you do a lot of things, and it can even keep you alive for a few days after you die. That’s how the game lets you talk to the dead.
Thought devices are like something nearer to a cell phone in the real world. They are all-in-one devices that are worn on the temple and connect the user to a larger network. Thought devices connect people to the Kollektiv.
From what we can tell, it looks like the Khala from Starcraft. People connect their thoughts through the Kollektiv, and this single will is somehow what makes people evolve.
In Atomic Heart, the Thought Device’s real goal is to change how people interact with robots. The story of the game is all about the release of something called Kollective 2.0. This will give every person on Earth with a Thought Device the ability to control robots just by thinking about it.
You’ll even be able to talk to people from very far away using these devices. The only problem is that the government would be able to keep track of you and your thoughts.
The real reason for these things is to control. Sechenov wants to use them to control every person on Earth, taking away their free will and sending their minds to a place called Limbo where they will be happy forever. Nobody is going to be able to stop Sechenov from using people’s bodies to do whatever he wants, mostly manual labor.
How Do Thought-Transmitting Devices Let The Dead Talk?
“The dead still have a Neuro-Polymer memory and can talk to each other for a while after they die.” In other words, they’re a reflection of the person who wears them. Even though they are creepy, they have come in handy more than once.
Can A Thought Machine Be Taken Away?
CHAR-Les admits that there aren’t any facts to go on. But he tells the Major that nobody can stop someone from taking off their THOUGHT device. It is not put in the head; it is worn on the head.
At the end of the game, after you beat the final boss of Atomic Heart, you find out that Sechenov could have done this by using the Polymer injections that the government has been giving everyone.
People think that this means they will always be able to take off the Thought Device if they want to stop the constant flow of information, but that’s not true. No one will be able to get rid of their Thought Device because they will no longer be able to choose for themselves.
