This morning, more than 90 videos, or 50 minutes of content, were posted on the famous GTA Forums site. This Sunday, September 18, GTA VI has therefore officially leaked on the net. This is the biggest leak in Rockstar Games history. A symbolic date, since this leak comes the day after the ninth anniversary of the GTA V edition.
Summary of everything that has happened in the last few hours with some elements that we have been able to collect on our side.
GTA 6 leaked, Rockstar Games up against the wall?
Early this morning, an anonymous account posted a 3.50 GB folder containing 90 videos and 53 minutes of footage from the highly anticipated GTA 6. The game has been in development for several years (at least since 2016). At the start of the year, the publisher confirmed that it was actively working on the title. While everyone was waiting for an official announcement at the end of the year, the madness of the internet got the better of Rockstar Games.
It’s true, I confirm.

It should be noted that the videos are from the debug versions of GTA 6, that is to say from the alpha version of the game. These are therefore test phases and this does not correspond to the final version of the game. elsewhere, many sequences were created specifically for testing purposes and will not be in the final version of GTA 6.
Obviously, the leaks show images dating back to the period 2017 – 2021. According to our information, collected from sources close to Rockstar Games, this is an old version of GTA 6 which runs on older versions of the engine RAGE (the graphics engine of Rockstar Games). It would be a version of RAGE 7, the same as GTA 5.
In these leaks, the city of Vice City is confirmed, as well as the two main characters, a man and a woman: Jason and Lucia. Several elements show that this is not the definitive version of the game, such as the mini-map at the bottom left which is the same as in GTA 5 and which will be different in the definitive version of GTA 6.
The hacker who hacked into a Rockstar Games Slack server claims to have all the source code for GTA 5 and GTA 6. If this turns out to be true, it’s a disaster for Rockstar Games since this information is invaluable and highly confidential. Obviously, the hacker (who would also have hacked Uber a few days ago) would be in possession of other sensitive information.

“We recently experienced a network breach in which an unauthorized third party illegally accessed and downloaded confidential information from our systems, including early development footage for the upcoming Grand Theft Auto. At this time, we do not anticipate any disruption to our live game services or any long-term effect on the development of our ongoing projects. We are extremely disappointed to have details of our upcoming game shared with you in this way. Our work on the next Grand Grand Theft Auto game will continue as planned and we are more committed than ever to providing you, our players, with an experience that truly exceeds your expectations. We’ll let you know soon and, of course, we’ll properly introduce you to this next game when it’s ready. We want to thank everyone for their continued support in this situation.”
