While iOS 15 is already rolling out to a good number of iPhone users, Android 12 is not yet available. However, Google has been testing this new version of its OS in beta for months. And this week, the final version of Android 12 is finally coming out… on AOSP or Android Open Source Project.
Normally, when Google publishes a new version of Android 12 on AOSP, it also deploys it on its Pixel smartphones the same day. This year, however, is a little different.
In a blog post, Google indicates that Android 12 will land on Pixel smartphones in the coming weeks, then the new version will also arrive on devices from brands like Samsung, OnePlus, Oppo, Realme, Tecno, Vivo, and Xiaomi later. This year.
Why are you late ? As the 9to5Google site reports, if Android 12 is not yet available on Pixel smartphones today, it is because Google is in the process of finalizing exclusive features for its smartphones. A representative reportedly explained that the firm is in the process of “Putting the finishing touches on a special version with exclusive Pixel and Pixel-first experiences on Android 12.”
Exclusive features are a way for Google to distinguish its smartphones from those of other brands using Android. And obviously, these exclusives will be more important this year.
Google also indicates that in all, 225,000 people participated in the beta to test Android 12. And 50,000 bug reports were sent, which made it possible to improve the operating system before its release.
