It’s a very big bet from Amazon Prime Video. The streaming platform wants to strike a blow by releasing its series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power next September 2. Little by little, the service is therefore busy teasing its very big budget production.
This is precisely what JD Payne and Patrick McKay, the creative duo of this fiction, tried to do in a recent interview with the magazine Empire. The two men literally sold dreams to the spectators.
Action “like we’ve never seen before”?
JD Payne first wondered when comparing the series to Peter Jackson’s film trilogy: ” The Siege of Helm’s Deep is so iconic and incredible that we wondered, “What’s one different thing we can do that still feels like Middle-earth but is unique to this story? »
And his sidekick Patrick McKay continued: “ The series features a lot of action, more than any TV or online series we’ve seen. Each episode features set pieces, creatures, battles, and fierce fights to the death. »
He adds : ” But instead of having 10,000 Orcs fighting 10,000 men, how does it feel to have an Orc in your face, in your kitchen? What’s it like trying to kill an Orc when you’ve never killed an Orc before? »
In addition to the debauchery of means, we are therefore promised a realization with small onions which allows greater immersion. Finally Patrick McKay launched into a strong tribute to Peter Jackson: ” Anyone approaching The Lord of the Rings on screen would be wrong not to think how wonderfully well it pulled off much of the movie. But we are admirers from afar, that’s all. The Rings of Power don’t try to compete with him ».
These statements are tantalizing to say the least. We therefore only have to wait until the start of the school year in September to watch the series. In the meantime, you can read our article dedicated to these new characters from the Lord of the Rings.
