This weekend, Amnesty International revealed what appears to be biggest cyber surveillance scandal worldwide. NSO Group, an Israeli company, is accused by the organization of having developed and marketed Pegasus spyware with the aim of infecting the smartphones of nearly 50,000 members of governments, activists, journalists, business leaders and politicians around the world.

As part of a collaborative investigation by The Washington Post, The Guardian, Le Monde and other media, this case has raised serious privacy concerns around the world and revealed how the private company’s software could have been misused. Amnesty International now offers a tool to see if you have been infected with Pegasus spyware, or not. Here’s how to make sure.

Here’s how to tell if you’ve been infected with Pegasus

Amnesty International offers the tool Mobile Verification Toolkit (MVT) – totally open source – at this address. It allows you to do a complete check of the files on your smartphone and especially your messaging applications, where the software Pegasus mostly penetrates devices.
