Netflix: massive loss of subscribers in the second quarter but the service remains number one

In its latest quarterly report (see source), Netflix announces that it has lost nearly 430,000 subscribers in North America alone during the second quarter of 2021. By comparison, the streaming giant, however, added 4 million subscribers in the first quarter of 2021, against the 6 million it planned to reach.

Netflix does not intend to stop there since it has declared that it is now planning acquire more than 3.5 million subscribers before the next review. A forecast that will most likely be exceeded by the beginning of 2022, with the arrival of a new section dedicated to mobile video games, free for subscribers.

All these figures, however, remain to be put into perspective since overall, Netflix ended the second quarter with 209 million paid subscriptions and a total turnover of $ 7.3 billion.
