Netflix and Steven Spielberg sign partnership to produce multiple films per year

Netflix has just announced the signing of a new contract with Amblin Partners, the film studio launched by famous director Steven Spielberg. Thus, Amblin Partners will produce several feature films per year for the streaming service, some of which could theoretically be produced, developed and directed by Spielberg.

While Apple TV + has partnered with Martin Scorsese to improve its catalog of films and series, Netflix has just signed an agreement with Amblin Partners, the film studio launched by famous director Steven Spielberg. Selon Netflix, several films will be produced by the studio and per year, exclusively on the SVOD platform. Some could be developed and produced by Spielberg himself. The amount of the deal was not disclosed.

The recent prize list from Amblin Partners in terms of critical and commercial success includes the Oscar for Best Picture, Green Book: On the roads of the South, released in 2018. It won three Oscars, two Golden Globes and more than $ 385 million at the global box office. The two companies have also previously worked together on The Trial of the Chicago 7, nominated for an Oscar. They are currently collaborating on Bradley Cooper’s film, Maestro, which is in pre-production.

The information also comes shortly after Netflix announced a series by Stranger Things directors Stephen King and Steven Spielberg.
