In 2019, we were already talking to you about the fact that Kevin Feige, the president of the Marvel studio, was working on a new Star Wars film. Known for being the instigator of the MCU, we could then place a lot of hope on the fact that he applies his good recipes to a franchise which sometimes struggles to convince the public.
A project disconnected from other Star Wars films and series?
Almost three years later, things are definitely starting to get clearer for this film. Michael Waldron, a seasoned screenwriter who is working on the project, confided in Variety. He has already worked on series like Loki, Rick et Mortybut also on the last Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
He therefore began to give some details about this feature film on which he is currently working, and of which we know for the moment only relatively few details. He explains thus:
We are finally getting serious about it. I’m writing the script, it’s a lot of fun. I appreciate having the freedom to do something that doesn’t necessarily have a sequel or whatever. There are no connections to other films and series like I had to for Doctor Strange 2. So that’s fine, a whole other exercise.
His words are not made to surprise us and the fact that there are not really connections confirms the direction taken by the Star Wars franchise in cinema. Disney does not seem to want to take the direction of a trilogy for a long time.
As reminded Screenrant, his declaration comes only a few days after Kevin Feige confirmed that he is also working on the writing of the script. We are therefore still a long way from a release date, but our colleagues are counting on the years 2025 or 2027 as credible leads.
In the meantime, we can watch the series Obi-Wan Kenobi which will mark the great return of the iconic villain Darth Vader. Appointment is made on May 27 on Disney +.
