When LG wants to surprise, it gives much more than expected. While everyone was expecting the launch of LG Q6 (also known as G6 Mini in rumors) at company’s Poland launch event today, the South Korean conglomerate has stunned everyone by launching 3 new smartphones: LG Q6, LG Q6+ and LG Q6a. So instead of a Mini version of LG G6 under a different “Q” moniker it’s an entire new lineup! And according to company, all 3 smartphones of this series aim to deliver powerful specs at competitive pricing. Speaking about the devices Mr. Juno Cho, President of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company, said:
“The LG Q6 is a blend of premium features, great performance and attractive pricing, a combination that is extremely important to us as we look at the way consumers are using smartphones around the world.”
So let’s see how premium and great those specs are, how these smartphones differ and what they’ve in common.
First of all let’s talk about similarities. All 3 smartphones come with 5.5-inch FullVision displays. FullVision, in case you don’t know, is LG’s answer to Infinity displays of Samsung: almost edge-to-edge displays with aspect ratio of 18:9.
Besides that all of them come with Snapdragon 835 processors, 13mp primary cameras (single lens), 5mp secondary cameras and Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating systems. What’s different then? Colors, RAM and internal storage capacities.
Let’s look at RAM configurations first. LG Q6a comes with 2GB of RAM, Q6 with 3GB RAM and Q6+ with 4GB RAM. Then there’re differences in storage capacity: Q6a has got 16GB internal memory, Q6 has got 32GB of it and Q6+ will come with 64GB internal storage.
Then there’s design and colors. When it comes to design language, the smartphones are not different from company’s G6 smartphone – it’s essentially the same design. Besides that, the smartphones will also be available in Ice Platinum and Astro Black colors, the two color options which are shared by G6 as well. However, these Q6 series smartphones will also come in some additional color options:
- Q6a will additionally come in Terra Gold color variant;
- Q6 will come in Terra Gold and Mystic White;
- And Q6+ will come in Marine Blue.
In the end, all smartphones support 4G LTE, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, NFC and Type-B USB 2.0 connectivity. In terms of power all of them house a 3,000 mAh battery. And interestingly, despite the “attractive pricing” comment company has not yet disclosed the pricing of any of these models, which will be revealed at the time of availability only.
The smartphones are likely to be available in all major Asian markets from next months, followed by availability in Europe, Latin America and North America.
