Three years later, it was Juan Antonio Bayona who stepped behind the camera for the film Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
Finally, Colin Treverrow returns to directing for the sixth installment of the hit series to be released next year. According to him, Universal’s feature film will be halfway between spy film and science thriller. We give you all the information on this future film which will be titled Jurassic World: The World After.
Jurassic World 3: when to release?
The filming of the film began in February 2020. It took place in Canada, Hawaii, Malta and England. But like many productions, it had to stop in March, the peak month of the pandemic. Finally, filming was able to end last November, as confirmed by Colin Trevorrow.

Jurassic World 3 : quelle intrigue ?
A new world
At the end of Fallen Kingdom, the dinosaurs regained their freedom on the American continent, as evidenced by the last scene after the credits where you can admire two pterodactyls around the Eiffel Tower in Las Vegas. Earlier in the film, Maisie had finally opened the jails of the creatures to save them from certain death. A liberation that will not be without consequences on the world, humans are thus brought to have to cohabit with dinosaurs. You will understand, this will be the backdrop for Jurassic World 3.
A short film titled Battle at Big Rock was also produced by Colin Trevorrow. It makes it possible to establish a scenario bridge between Fallen Kindgdom and the future blockbuster. We discover a family looking to have a good time in an American national park. A camping session that will quickly take another turn. Obviously very hungry, a Nasutoceratops suddenly appears around the caravan, in search of food. A few moments later, an Allosaurus disembarks and the two creatures start a fierce fight.
Close to death, the Nasutoceratops is finally saved in extremis by one of its congeners. Crying, Dennis and Mariana’s baby sparks the Allosaurus’ interest. Which turns the trailer over before attempting to capture it. A bitter struggle ensues between humans and the predator. Young Kadasha finally manages to get rid of the dinosaur by shooting two crossbow bolts. During the credits, several sequences indicate that we will now have to deal with dinosaurs.
For the sake of scientific consistency, the dinosaurs in the film should be very different from those already appeared in the previous parts of the saga. Director Colin Trevorrow has just published a tweet where he reveals a theropod not decked out in scales but in feathers. And to declare in the columns of Collider:
“Dinosaurs have feathers… and there will be more of that in the movie. I just want people to come and see a great story. Eventually, when you’ve watched the film twice, you’ll have seen what the dinosaurs look like ”. Compared to the previous section, there will be more dinosaurs created with animatronics rather than with synthetic images. Which should offer a much more realistic rendering to the image.
There will also be new species never seen in the movies, as we learn in an exclusive excerpt commented by Collider. A sequence embellished with a flashback where we can admire the dreadnoughtus, the oviraptor, the quetzalcoatlus, the iguanodon, the nasutoceratops, the giganotosaurus or even the moros intrepidus.
Jurassic World 3 : quel casting ?
Let it be said, The World According to will be the high point of the saga, allowing to link all the narrative arcs developed in the films already released. This is how the original cast of the license will be part of it. Actor Chris Pratt has compared Jurassic World 3 to Endgame. As a reminder, the Marvel film featured all the superheroes that appeared in other MCU films.
The cast of Jurassic World 3 will therefore be broadened to say the least. Obviously, we find the pillars of the franchise that are Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. The first city plays Owen Grady, the animal behaviorist specializing in the study of Velociraptors. The second cited plays the role of Claire Dearing, the former chief operating officer of Jurassic World who became a dino-activist.
They will both appear alongside Isabella Sermon who will take on the role of Maisie Lockwood, the little girl they saved in Fallen Kingdom. Moreover, the cast will be made up of our national Omar Sy (Barry Sembène) by Jake Johnson (Lowery Cruthers) but also BD Wong (Dr Henry Wu) and new recruits Scott Haze, Mamoudou Athie, DeWanda Wise and Dichen Lachman.
We will also remember the simultaneous presence on the screen (a first in the history of the franchise) of three leading actors from Jurassic Park. Namely, Sam Neill (paleontologist Dr Alan Grant), Laura Dern (paleobotanist Dr Ellie Satler) and Jeff Goldblum (Dr Ian Malcolm, mathematician specializing in chaos theory). Here are the other actors in the film:
- Franklin Webb : Justice Smith
- Carolyn O’Hara: Glynis Davies
- Wyatt Huntley: Kristoffer Polaha
- Campbell Scott : Lewis Dodgson
Jurassic World 3: the trailers
No trailer has yet been revealed. But the first returns to the film are rave. According to the excerpt watched by Steven Weintraub, the editor-in-chief of Collider, spectators should take full view. “While I could elaborate on how impressive the extract was for a long time, what really left me speechless was the exceptional special effects that bring the dinosaurs to life. In the sequence, you will be able to see webs in some mouths, chipped teeth and hairs ”.
