How To Get The Hairstyle “A Close Shave” In Final Fantasy XIV:
One of the most unique things about Final Fantasy XIV that you don’t see in many other popular MMOs is that you can get new hairstyles for your character as bonuses for completing expansions and patches.
Square Enix is always looking for ways to add more hairstyles to Eorzea. Patch 6.35 adds a style called “A Close Shave” that has very short hair. Here’s how to get the A Close Shave hairstyle in Final Fantasy XIV.
In Final Fantasy XIV, it’s so easy to change your hair that it’s almost like therapy. Feel like yellow is no longer your color? It’s time for blue! And while you’re here, why not try a new style? Sure, having 2000 less Gil won’t kill you.
And since there are so many new hairstyles coming out every few patches, there’s not much reason not to try them out.
How To Get The Hairstyle A Close Shave:
Modern Art and Beauty A Close Shave is a random drop that you can get by scanning the sacks you find inside Eureka Orthos that have drops from the Accursed Hoard. If you like this really short hairstyle and don’t want to pay for it, it’s time to start digging deep in this dungeon that changes all the time.
It can drop from any sack from Bronze to Platinum, just like the unique hairstyles from Palace of the Dead or Heaven-On-High. You have a better chance of getting it at higher levels, but you can also get it by spamming Floors 21–30 while levelling up a job.
If Deep Dungeons aren’t your bop, don’t worry. Yes, you can trade the hairstyle item, and you’re able to purchase it from the Market Board. Deep Dungeon drops are usually expensive, especially when they first come out, so be ready to spend a lot of money on it.
A Close Shave:
The deep dungeon Eureka Orthos was also added in Patch 6.35. If you go deep into the secret lab under the Crystal Tower, you might discover treasures called the Accursed Hoard. If you can loot this without getting hurt, you’ll get bags of different quality depending on how deep you go.
Modern Art and Beauty A Close Shave can drop from any type of sack, but it is most likely to drop from Gold Tinged Sacks. But these goodie bags could indeed contain a lot of rewards, so it’s a bit of a gamble.
To open them, talk to the NPC Valeroine just outside the entrance to the Crystal Tower, where the line for Eureka Orthos is. Her location is X:35.0 and Y:19.2.
A Close Shave could be bought on the Market Board, which is good news for players who don’t want to depend on luck. It can also be traded, so if you have a lucky friend who is willing to help, you could ask them for it. However, chances are they will be eager to know and understand it themselves.
Most hairstyles are only unlocked for the character who uses the item, so you will have to do this for each character you want to have the hairstyle on. When you unlock the hair option, your character’s hair does not change by itself.
Use the Crystal Bell in any Inn room to go see the Aesthetician. Also, when you unlock a hairstyle for your character, you can also use it for your retainers.
The Close Shave option is also available for Viera and Hrothgar’s hair. People of these races have often been left out of new hairstyles, so it’s good to see that they haven’t been forgotten.
