House of the Dragon : intrigue
This spin-off will focus on House Targaryen in Westeros, three centuries before the era chosen as the backdrop for Game of Thrones. At the helm, we will find Ryan Condal (screenwriter and producer) and Miguel Sapochnik who will officiate as showrunners. Note that it was George RR Martin who launched this project based on his book Feu et Sang. However, he stressed that he will not take charge of writing the scripts until he has finished writing Winds of Winter, the sixth installment of the Game of Thrones saga.
For information, Fire and Blood goes back and forth on the Targaryen dynasty, from the Conquest of Aegon I Targaryen to Aerys II. The series will give pride of place to the Dance of the Dragons. Either the name of the war of succession opposing the supporters of Alicante Hightower and his son Aegon II Targaryen against those of Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen. The first cities form the Black faction while the second are called the Greens.
The spin-off will thus take shape from the death of King Viserys I. Which designated his eldest daughter Rhaenyra as heir to his throne, contrary to the rules of misogynist Westeros inheritance. Hence the fratricidal war that will follow. Each side will have dragons in its ranks. What promises fiery battles. As a reminder, the dragon is the emblem of House Targaryen. The latter has the particularity of knowing how to command the formidable winged creatures.

House of the Dragon : casting
We already know the identity of the actors who will participate in this project. Paddy Considine (The Outsider) will notably play the role of King Viserys I Targaryen (who has already ridden the dragon Balerion). Olivia Cooke (Ready Player One) will put on the Alicent Hightower costume. In the columns of The Telegraph, the latter notably underlined that scenes showing sexual abuse of women (like Sansa’s rape) will no longer be relevant in the spin-off.
“I would not be comfortable with the idea of participating in a project which shows graphic and shocking violence against women for no reason, or just because it wants to make the spectators salivate”, she explained before adding: “I don’t think it would be healthy to include this stuff now.”
In addition, we know that Steve Toussaint will take on the role of Corlys Velaryon, a lord considered the greatest explorer of Westeros. Hence its nickname “Sea Serpent”. In addition, Eva Best will play Princess Rhaenys Velaryon, wife of Corlys Velaryon. Rhys Ifans will officiate as Otto Hightower, Hand of the King. Sonoya Mizuno will take on the role of Mysaria, mistress of Prince Daemon Targaryen who will also be played by Matt Smith (The Crown).
