Historic launch for Forza Horizon 5 and Halo Infinite multiplayer

What a historic month for Xbox! On November 15, Microsoft’s gaming branch celebrated its 20th anniversary. This month is likely to be historic with two nice records set by Forza Horizon 5 and the free multiplayer of Halo Infinite and the first anniversary of the Xbox Series X / S!

10 million pilots on Forza Horizon 5

Available since November 9, Forza Horizon 5 has managed to become in just 10 days the biggest launch in the history of Xbox. More than 10 million players have traveled the roads of Mexico on the latest title from the talented studio of Playground Games.

History of player count on Forza Horizon 5

  • November 09 (launch) – 4.5 million
  • November 13: 7 million
  • November 14: 8 million
  • November 16: 9 million
  • November 18: 10 million

These figures therefore relate to players on PC, Xbox Series X / S, Xbox One and Cloud Gaming. Likewise, players who have tried the game on Game Pass are included in these statistics. Forza Horizon 5 manages to do a lot better than Gears 5 and Forza Horizon 4. This is simply the best launch of an Xbox Game Studio game.

Last Monday, November 15, Xbox celebrated its 20th anniversary with an exceptional live performance to look back on the brand’s first two decades. During this event, a big surprise was announced with the launch of Halo Infinite multiplayer on PC, Xbox Series X / S and Xbox One. Again, it was a huge success.

While (free) multiplayer was due out on December 8 at the same time as the Halo Infinite single player campaign, studio 343 Industries surprised everyone by releasing the mode online on November 15. In less than eight hours, Steam recorded a record number with a peak of 272,586 simultaneous online players. Impressive figures which only concern the PC version since we are still awaiting statistics on Xbox Series X / S and Xbox One.

This is the biggest Steam launch of an Xbox Game Studios game and the fourth biggest Steam launch across all games behind Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Dota 2 and PUBG Battlegrounds. Halo Infinite’s free multiplayer has the luxury of being ahead of Apex Legends, Team Fortress 2, Grand Theft Auto V, and Forza Horizon 5 when it launches.

This is a great achievement on the part of Microsoft which only bodes well for the coming months and years!
