Here’s why the Xiaomi 12 Ultra could be the best Android smartphone of 2022

As we approach the end of 2022, the media are starting to take an interest in the next generation of high-end smartphones. And among these, there is the new Xiaomi 12 series, which the Chinese manufacturer could present as early as December in order to get ahead of all its competitors.

And obviously, we should expect some very interesting announcements, in particular concerning the Xiaomi 12 Ultra. Indeed, once again, Xiaomi is about to send heavy loads for its ultra-high-end model.

First of all, when it comes to photo and video, Xiaomi could once again stand out. As a reminder, the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra is among the best smartphone cameras on the market in 2021. Currently, only Huawei’s P50 Pro takes better photos than the Mi 11 Ultra.

And for the Xiaomi 12 Ultra, the manufacturer could improve its camera with the help of a third party: Leica. According to a rumor that is currently circulating, the two companies are working together to optimize the camera of the Xiaomi 12 Ultra.

However, as a reminder, if Huawei designs excellent smartphone cameras, it is largely thanks to its partnership with the German company. And if Xiaomi can enjoy the same advantage, it could significantly boost the performance of its cameras.

An Ultra version and an Ultra Enhanced version?

In an article published recently, the xiaomiui.com site mentions the existence of two models: the Xiaomi 12 Ultra and the Xiaomi Ultra “Enhanced” (“improved”). Naturally, these two devices should use the Snapdragon 898 or Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor.

And on the back, there could be a set of 5 sensors, including a 50-megapixel main sensor (Samsung’s GN5 sensor), or a 200-megapixel sensor (but that would be less likely). Xiaomi also talks about the significant improvements that would be made in terms of zoom.

Note also that the site thinks it has discovered the code names of the Xiaomi 12 Ultra and the Xiaomi 12 Ultra Enhanced. These would be loki and thor. These names might suggest that like the Mi Mix 4 (codenamed odin, another Nordic deity), the Xiaomi 12 Ultra and Xiaomi 12 Ultra Enhanced might have a front camera hidden under the display.

But as usual, this information does not come from an official source, so caution is always in order.
