So finally it has happened. Google has launched its Pixel and Pixel 2 smartphones to much fanfare, and as expected, the launch has been totally in-line with rumors. The specs and features are exactly same as they were told by the rumor mill, so there’s little to the imagination as far as hardware of these two devices is concerned.
However, that doesn’t mean end of the story. There’s plenty of new and unknown stuff in Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, most of which is hidden in the software.
But first of all let’s talk about the hardware alone, because that’s what constitutes the specs sheet of a device. Google Pixel 2 comes with Snapdragon 835 octa-core processor, 4GB RAM, 5-inch Full HD display, 12.2mp primary camera, 8mp secondary camera, 64GB internal storage and 128GB expandable storage.
Its bigger sibling, Pixel 2 XL, is also essentially the same, with major differences present only in display department. The display of Pixel 2 XL is 6-inches large P-OLED display with QHD+ (2,880 x 1,440 pixels) resolution, which comes down to a super impressive 538 ppi. And just as expected, it also has very narrow edges. Another major difference between both devices is that of battery – Pixel 2 comes with a 2,700 mAh battery, while Pixel 2 XL is equipped with a 3,520 mAh battery. Early results suggest that primary camera of both devices is giving tough competition to all the flagships launched this year, and that includes Apple’s latest iPhones too.
Both Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL have also got squeezable sides, and squeezing them launches Google Assistant.
With that in mind, now let’s take a look on the pricing of both these devices. Google Pixel 2 has been priced at ₹61,000, while Pixel 2 XL will cost you ₹73,000. Note that these are the prices for 64GB versions of both. The 128GB versions of Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL will cost you ₹70,000 and ₹82,000, respectively.
Finally, the headphone jack is gone and these devices come in 4 different color options:
- Google Pixel 2 comes in Black, White and Blue colors;
- Pixel 2 XL comes in All White and a Black & White colored version, in whichthe upper part of device (where camera lens and flash etc. are located) is black while the lower part is white. You can see the colors of Pixel 2 in above given image, while colors of Pixel 2 XL are shown in the image given below:
We’ll explore the software side of both devices in another post, as whatever major unknown things are there, they exist in software only.
Therefore, they deserve to be explored in a separate post. Until then you let us know your thoughts about both these devices in the comments section below.
