The future God of War should indeed be named Ragnarök. For the record, this term designates the end of the world in Norse mythology. Much awaited by fans, impatient to be able to play Kratos again, the title is unfortunately not ready to land on our home consoles. The news was announced by Hermen Hulst, director of PlayStation Studios, in an interview posted on the PlayStation blog.

While the game was slated for 2021, it will finally be released in 2022. A postponement which should make it possible to refine the action-adventure game as it should. “Regarding God of War, the project started a little later. We have therefore decided to postpone the game until next year, so that Santa Monica Studio can offer us an exceptional God of War ”, Hermen Hulst thus emphasizes.

God of War 2 Ragnarök: the game will be available on PS4

And to specify that the next God of War will be cross-gen. In other words, it will be playable on the PS4. For its part, Santa Monica Studio, which has been developing the license since its inception, also confirmed on Twitter the postponement of the release date:

“We are incredibly grateful to see the excitement of players playing the next chapter in the adventures of Kratos and Atreus.
