When in reality it’s Sammy from Scooby Doo
After Nickelodeon, it’s the turn of Warner Bros. Games to reveal his own plateform brawler (understand Smash-like), powered by Warner licenses from all walks of life. Between the superheroes of DC Comics, Looney Tunes and characters from Cartoon Network see of HBO series, here we are again in a hell of a delirium.
On paper, MultiVersus is a new attempt to attract people by mixing preferred licenses everyone in the mix, with gameplay already seen a thousand times elsewhere. Nevertheless, director Tony Huynh at Player First Games assures us that the multiplayer title has plenty of arguments to please, beyond allowing Tom & Jerry to sinter with Harley Quinn.
A priori quite slow compared to the competition, MultiVersus actually puts a lot tactics and cooperation forward. If he will be of course possible to play alone with modes designed for, the heart of the game is embodied by 2v2 matches. Each character has skills that will benefit their teammate, such as le tunnel de Bugs Bunny which can be borrowed by another.
Thought to be fun above all, MultiVersus should not abandon a potential competitive scene however, in order to attract players from Super Smash Bros. or from Brawlhalla : the title will benefit ranked matches and of a rollback netcode which is starting to become more and more common in the competitive fighting game scene.
Obviously, cult license characters represent the main interest of MultiVersus. Most of the original voice actors will resume their respective roles, just to make the experience even more authentic. We wonder if French version will receive the same treatment.
A first roster has already been unveiled, with the promise new announcements in the near future. He was pretty sure the title was going to put heavy emphasis on the meme of Sammy Ultra Instinct…
- Arya Stark (Game of Thrones)
- Wonder Woman
- Harley Quinn
- Bugs Bunny
- Tom & Jerry
- Shaggy/Sammy (Scooby Doo)
- Finn the Human (Adventure Time)
- Jake the Dog (Adventure Time)
- Steven Universe (Steven Universe)
- Garnet/Garnet (Steven Universe)
- Reindog (original character)
In fact, the existence of MultiVersus had already leaked a few months ago. If a good part of the roster was already known, somebody is missing: a certain Gandalf the Gray, derived from the license from the lord of the rings. Well, yes, this is the future that the Internet – and industry – wants.
MultiVersus is already planned for current 2022 and announced as un free-to-play, with cosmetics economy that goes with. The brawler will be available on PC, Xbox and PlayStation consoles, while a Nintendo Switch version would not be on the agenda.
