The stalker does not stay (too) far
Not long ago, many people having gone to the checkout in advance to Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl on Xbox received a somewhat reassuring message telling them that their pre-order was cancelled. Neither one nor two, the latter concluded with a new postponement of the title of GSC Game Word who recently found himself in trouble because of the war in Ukraine.
However, the Ukrainian studio affirms and insists that this is not the case; development would therefore follow its course, as much as possible.
Since the start of the unfortunate events in Ukraine, CSG Game World was forced to stop the development of Stalker 2 for a while, de facto obliging the studio to bring the release date to the aisles of 2023. In the meantime, development has been able to resume, but the game still has no real release date. GSC thus explains to PC Gamer that the reason behind these refunds is very simple:
Microsoft refunds pre-orders of games without a specific release date. Later, when we announce a new date, pre-orders will again be possible on Xbox.
The studio states that only the Xbox store is affected; pre-orders on all PC platforms (Steam, Epic Games Store and GOG) are not affected. For now, Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl therefore retains its current release window of December 2023.
