The surprise is total (no)
Known as a support studio specializing in les remasters and remakes like Gravity Rush, Shadow of the Colossus and Demon’s Souls, and long-time collaborator with the manufacturer, Bluepoint Games has been acquired by Sony, which makes it officially – finally –a PlayStation studio.
It is Hermen Hulst, at the head of PlayStation Studios announcing the news on the official PlayStation blog and facing the camera on Twitter:
Both faithful to the original materials and impressive from a graphic point of view, Shadow of the Colossus and Demon’s Souls are standard meters in the genre cult game remakes. Mine for nothing, the studio in Austin, Texas does not even exceed the 100 heads, as indicated by the president Marco Thrush in the same post:
- Our team now numbers nearly 70 extremely talented designers, and that’s just the start. Although our studio has grown over the past 15 years, our goals have not changed: to create top quality games while having fun. The cultural aspect has played a key role in our success, and we are delighted that PlayStation Studios is sharing our culture and vision.
- Joining the PlayStation Studios family will allow our studio to go even further and create ever more impactful experiences for the PlayStation community. Thank you to those who have supported us for all these years. We can’t wait to bring you some amazing new games in this new chapter in Bluepoint Games history!
So many PlayStation gamers are eager to know the next holy monster which will tackle Bluepoint Games. In fact, and for once, the studio’s next game project will be an original license, as Thrush at IGN points out:
[Pour] our next project, we’re working on some original content right now. We can’t tell you what it is, but it’s the next step in our evolution.
