Apple TV+ earns 12 Annie Award nominations

Each year, the Annie Awards reward the best animation works or films incorporating animation processes. In 2021, the excellent Wolfwalkers had collected no less than 5 Annie Awards (for 10 nominations), and in this year 2023, Apple’s streaming service stands out with 11 nominations (for 6 programs), including 7 for the very beautiful The child, the mole, the fox and the horse (it’s a real gem). This animated short film by the duo Charlie MacKesy and Peter Baynton is thus nominated in the categories Special Production, Best FX/TV/Media, Character Animation – TV/Media, Direction-TV/Media, Music-TV/Media, Production Design – TV/Media, et Editorial – TV/Media.

5 other Apple TV+ productions are nominated for the Annie Awards, namely El Deafo! (Best Miniseries), Prehistoric Planet (Best Special Effects), Ted Lasso: The Missing Christmas Mustache (Best Animation Commercial), Luck (Best Character Design) and Finch (Best Character Animation for Robot Jeff) . A sacred harvest which will perhaps result in new statuettes in the trophy cabinet… The 50th ceremony of the Annies Awards will be held on Saturday February 25 at Royce Hall on the UCLA campus.
