- Analysts are predicting that Apple will once again launch 3 iPhones in 2018
- One of them will come with a large 6.5-inch display.
- All of them to come with significantly larger batteries.
Apple’s iPhone lineup has expanded substantially over the course of last few years. While it’s still too far from those smartphone makers who have hundreds of offerings present in the market, the company has come a long way since those old good days of one iPhone per year. The expansion started after Tim Cook took over from Steve Jobs. The rule of one iPhone per year was gradually relaxed to launch 2. And now this year we’ve seen 3 iPhones being launched at the same time. Now analysts are suggesting that from now on, 3 may become the number of choice for Apple’s iPhone launches.
That’s right – Nomura analysts have suggested to their investors in a note that Apple may once again go on to release 3 iPhones next year. This is in-line with what KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had said earlier this month. Since both these analysts have been scarily accurate in their predictions about Apple products, there’s no reason right now to not believe them.
Speaking further about the iPhones which may be launched in 2018, the note distributed by Nomura analysts says that one of them will come with a LCD screen, while other two will have OLED screens. Among the iPhones with the OLED display, one will have the same screen size as that of just launched iPhone X, and the other will be a “Plus” version having a large display – possibly a 6.5-inches one. Besides this, the note goes on to suggest that the iPhones to be launched next year are unlikely to have 3D sensing capabilities in their rear cameras, which is essential for augmented reality. Apple may also introduce a 512GB version of iPhone X next year, the note suggests.
Before this particular note by Nomura analysts, Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI had also suggested that Cupertino based giant may introduce 3 iPhones once again in 2018, all of them with significantly larger batteries than the current models. He had even went on to shell out some details about the possible battery size of upcoming iPhones, saying that company’s top-end model in 2018 with the 6.5-inch display may come with a 3,300 mAh – 3,400 mAh battery. That’s significantly larger than 2,716 mAh of current iPhone X, so it’s very likely to result in improved battery life. The 5.8-inch model, on the other hand, may come with a 2,900 – 3,000 mAh battery. New batteries will be “L” shaped instead of current rectangular standard, which will allow Apple to squeeze larger ones in the iPhones.
Finally, there’ll be an iPhone with LCD display, which will, of course, be the economic option for buyers in the market. Not much is known about this one as of now, and even these analysts didn’t say anything about this one.
