So finally it’s real – Apple just launched not one or two but 3 iPhones a few hours ago with plenty of surprises packed into each one of them. The chief of those surprises is the naming scheme adopted by the company.
There’s an iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and an all new iPhone X (pronounced iPhone 10) instead of 7S, 7S Plus and 8 that we were expecting in the traditional sense. Of course, the hub of most surprises among them is iPhone X, but that doesn’t mean that iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are nothing. Here we’re going to take you through the specs and highlights of all these models at a quick glance. Let’s begin:
Apple iPhone 8
First of all let’s talk about the Apple iPhone 8, because that was the most discussed iPhone till now (at least name-wise, though all those leaks were regarding iPhone X). It’s loaded with a 4.7-inch Retina HD display (1,334 x 750 px resolution), 12mp single lens primary camera, 7mp Facetime HD front camera, 64-bit six-core A11 Bionic chip, Touch ID, wireless charging and a battery that lasts as much as iPhone 7.
Apple iPhone 8 Plus
Next is iPhone 8 Plus, which comes with 12mp dual-lens primary camera, 5.5-inch Retina HD display (1,920 x 1,080 px resolution), 7mp Facetime HD front camera, A11 Bionic chip and Touch ID. The battery included in it lasts as long as that of iPhone 7 Plus, and just like iPhone 8 it supports wireless charging.
Apple iPhone X
Finally, there’s the big bang thing called iPhone X. This is the iPhone 8 that we were expecting from Apple till now in majority of leaks, but it has come with a different moniker. It comes with a gorgeous 5.8-inch edge-to-edge display, 12mp dual-lens primary camera (arranged vertically), 7mp Facetime HD front camera and a new authentication mechanism called Face ID.
So yes, those rumors of fingerprint sensor being replaced with Face recognition have come true as there’s no fingerprint sensor in this iPhone. Apple is touting it as a more reliable authentication technology because the “True Depth” front camera included in iPhone X captures 30,000 different data points from the user’s face for secure authentication. That seems fascinating to the ears, but it remains to be seen how reliable this new choice is.
Under the hood there’s same A11 Bionic Chip and other stuff included in other two iPhone models (including wireless charging). However, there’re some notable differences in iPhone X that make it the flagship product of Apple for this year:
- The first of them is Super Retina HD display. It’s a resolution of 2,436 x 1,125 pixels packed into that display which makes it the best in class. The display technology is also much better and newer – it’s Apple’s first iPhone with OLED display unlike others which come with LCD displays.
- iPhone X also comes with Fast Charging support. That’s right – this is Apple’s first iPhone with support for rapid charging technology, which means that you’ll be able to charge it up to 50% within 30 minutes!
- And finally, a bigger battery (not too bigger though, as it lasts only 2 hours more than that of iPhone 7).
All 3 iPhones are water, splash and dust resistant. And all 3 of them also support 4K video recording at 24, 30 and 60 frames per second.
By now you may be thinking “Okay, that’s good. But what about the price?”. Well, the answer to that questions is typically Apple. The pricing for all these iPhone models is as follows:
|iPhone 8||64,000 INR ($699 in US)||77,000 INR ($849 in US)|
|iPhone 8 Plus||73,000 INR($799 in US)||86,000 INR ($949 in US)|
|iPhone X||89,000 INR ($999 in US)||102,000 INR ($1,150 in US)|
That’s some seriously scary pricing for iPhone X… isn’t it? But there’re still plenty of people in the world who’ll buy it.
So that’s Apple’s package for 2017 and first half of 2018. What do you think about it? Will you purchase any of these 3 iPhones? Share your thoughts in the comments.
